Welcome to Schedules Direct

Schedules Direct is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate the public about the benefits of Open Source Software and other free software, provide support functions for such software, and provide funding for research that facilitates the improvement or creation of Open Source Software and other free software for the benefit of the public at large.

The cost of membership is currently US$35/year, with a 7 day free trial. A 2 month membership is also available for US$9 for those who do not wish to commit to an entire year.

Your membership fees help us fund programs to help your favorite Open Source projects. In exchange, our members receive access to raw U.S./Canadian TV listing data for the Free and Open Source Applications they use. Those applications then use the data to provide things like PVR functionality, search tools, and private channel grids. For more information, please read about our membership benefits and what your money helps us do for the Open Source community on our ABOUT US page.

membership fees going up 2023-03-31!

You may not realize this, but Schedules Direct membership fees haven't changed in 12 years! Sadly, the time has finally come.

Effective 2023-03-31 rates will increase to the following

  • $35/year
  • $9/2-months

We allow renewals 45 days before expiration, so you may be able to renew at the old rate. If not, sorry; we had to draw the line somewhere.

Did not receive a response from a token request

There is a known problem some locations (east coast Verizon for sure) with IPV6 routing. The Amazon load balancer used by the SD-JSON service supports IPV6 and most OSs and providers prefer IPV6. This is causing above error, especially with EPG123.

To work around the problem, you can disable IPV6 in your network settings (who really uses it anyway??) Or upgrade EPG123 to v1.7.3.5 which uses ipv4.json.schedulesdirect.org instead of json.schedulesdirect.org

The problem is not on the Schedules Direct side, but ISP or home network routing, we've been unable to duplicate the problem.

SD-JSON images now require tokens

Effective 2022-10-01, the Schedules Direct service will be requiring that the user token be presented for most interaction with our servers. If you are running NextPVR v6 or EPG123 v1.7.1.8 or higher then this will re-enable image downloads.

If you are a developer, please check the updated API documentation. You may also contact grabber@schedulesdirect.org if you would like to have your requests steered to a “debug” server while you are testing the addition of the token to your code.
